Everything You Want to Know About Bubbles: How Do They Work?

Selecting the right entertainment for your parties may seem like an easy enough task. That is until you are assigned to do it. While clowns and magicians may seem like the go-to entertainment for children’s parties, there is one type of act that will be suitable for just about any kind of party, and it would be a bubble master.  Whether you need entertainment for a children’s party, wedding, or even a corporate event, you can never go wrong with hiring a “bubbly” performer. Pun intended. However, before you even think of bubbles, have you ever stopped to think about how they work? This blog post will shed some light on this age-old question.

Everything You Want to Know About Bubbles: How Do They Work?

We have all probably tried to blow bubbles and play with them when we were children. But have you ever wondered about the science behind these fragile, colourful orbs? Read on to find the answers to some of the pressing bubble questions you might have had when you were a child!

The Science Behind Bubbles

The simplest way to describe how bubbles work is formed due to air and surface tension. A bubble begins as a thin membrane of liquid suspended in the hold of a bubble blower. Air is then blown into the thin layer of bubble film, which will force it out of the bubble blower. Surface tension will then be formed when the bubble breaks away from the primary membrane.

Why They Burst

As the bubble floats in the air, gravity will take its toll and slowly, the liquid on the surface of the bubble will fall to the ground, making the surface of the bubble thinner and thinner. Bubbles usually burst while they are suspended in midair because they become too thin. Also, they may burst because they come into contact with the ground or another object.

How Colours Are Formed

There may be many different colours that appear on the surface of a bubble, and there are two main factors that contribute to how these colours form. The first factor is light. The same concept of how a rainbow forms when it rains on an exceptionally bright or sunny day. The second factor is the thickness of the bubble’s liquid wall. The thicker it is, the more colours will be visible. As the bubble gets thinner and thinner, you may notice the colours beginning to fade until it finally bursts.

Why Are Bubble Blowers So Much Fun?

Bubble blowers are fun for all ages. Something about tiny floating spheres brings out the childlike innocence in anyone who comes across them. Bubble blowers are great additions to any event and will make the scene more festive!
