Joining The Magic Circle – A Milestone as a Bubble Magician

There are certain moments in a performer’s journey that feel like a quiet but powerful recognition – not just of what you do, but of how you do it. This week was one of those moments for me.

As a bubble magician, my work has always sat slightly outside the traditional definitions of magic. It lives somewhere between science, illusion, theatre, and pure visual poetry. So to be formally recognised by The Magic Circle – one of the most respected magic societies in the world – is something I do not take lightly.

Receiving the MMC Certificate

Earlier this week in London, I had the great honour of receiving my MMC Certificate from Marvin Berglas, President of The Magic Circle.

That moment carried real weight.

Not just because of the institution itself, but because of what it represents – a long-standing tradition of excellence, secrecy, craftsmanship, and respect for the art of magic.

To be welcomed into that circle, bringing something as unconventional as bubble artistry into the fold, felt both humbling and deeply validating.

What It Means as a Bubble Magician

Bubble magic is often misunderstood.

People see bubbles and think of something simple, playful, even disposable. But behind the scenes, it is a highly refined craft – combining precision, timing, chemistry, lighting, and performance technique to create illusions that feel genuinely impossible.

Joining The Magic Circle signals something important:

  • That bubble artistry can stand alongside more traditional forms of magic
  • That visual, non-verbal magic has a place in the wider magic community
  • That innovation and originality are valued just as much as tradition

For me, it’s not about fitting into the world of magic – it’s about expanding what that world can include.

Looking Ahead

This recognition is not an endpoint – it’s a step forward.

It strengthens my commitment to:

  • Developing new material and pushing the boundaries of what bubble magic can do
  • Sharing this art form with wider audiences, from theatres to festivals
  • Continuing to build bridges between magic, science, and visual theatre

Most importantly, it reinforces something I’ve believed for a long time:

Magic doesn’t have to follow a fixed format.
It can evolve, adapt, and take new forms – even something as fragile and fleeting as a soap bubble.

Final Thoughts

Receiving my MMC Certificate from Marvin Berglas was a moment I’ll remember for a long time.

It represents years of dedication, experimentation, and belief in a niche art form that doesn’t always fit neatly into a box.

And yet – here it is, recognised at the highest level.

A small, shimmering sphere…
now officially part of The Magic Circle.
